FAQ

What is an Exit Permit for KITAS/KITAP holders?

If you hold a KITAS (temporary stay permit) or KITAP (permanent stay permit), you cannot simply leave Indonesia freely like a tourist when your stay permit is ending. You need an Exit Permit (ERP) issued by Immigration to officially record your departure.

This permit ensures:

  • Your immigration status is properly tracked.

  • Any obligations (tax, overstays, sponsorship) are clear before you leave.

  • If you plan to return, you have the right status to do be able to apply for a new visa.

  • If you plan to leave permanently, your stay permit is officially canceled.

How long does it take to process an Exit Permit?

On average, it takes about 3 to 5 business days to process the KITAS/KITAP exit permit. It’s a good idea to apply at least a week before your intended date of travel outside of Bali.

Do I need an Exit Permit if my KITAS/KITAP is expiring soon?

Yes, you will still need an exit permit even if your KITAS/KITAP is about to expire. It ensures that your departure is on record, which will save you from getting slapped with immigration penalties.
