TIN/NPWP

Tax Identification Number

An Individual NPWP is an identification number given to taxpayers to carry out tax rights and obligations. This document is mandatory for foreign nationals planning to live or work in Indonesia.

All foreign nationals in Indonesia (expatriates, workers, investors) must obtain a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) to perform various tax activities, including income tax payments and tax reporting. An Individual NPWP is as vital as an Indonesian Identity Card (KTP) as it establishes your taxpayer identity. It enables you to work or build a business legally in Indonesia. You can apply for an NPWP number online or by visiting the nearest Tax Service Office. Requirements needed for the application include your Identity Card, passport, KITAS, and other supporting documents. Need assistance? We’ll help you to obtain an NPWP hassle-free.

FAQ

Should I get an NPWP number if I'm in Indonesia on a short-term entry visa?

Foreign nationals who stay in Indonesia for less than 183 days may not be obligated to get an NPWP. If you’ve been in the country for more than 183 days within a single period of 12 months, you’re required to obtain an NPWP.

What happens if I fail to register for an Individual NPWP?

Failure to register for an Individual NPWP may result in fines and penalties for tax evasion. In addition, you can’t conduct business or earn an income without an NPWP.
